Strange entry Stragglethorpe is a village in the civil parish of Brant Broughton with Stragglethorpe, in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The village is situated approximately 8 miles (13 km) east of Newark-on-Trent Stragglethorpe was a separate civil parish until 1931 when it merged with Brant Broughton. Second Stragglethorpe is located in the county of Nottinghamshire, East Midlands, one mile north of the town of Cotgrave, four miles east of the major city of Nottingham, and 105 miles north-west of London. Stragglethorpe lies six miles north of the Leicestershire border. Stragglethorpe falls within the district council of Rushcliffe, under the county council of Nottinghamshire. Explanation of name Stragglethorpe is first recorded as Straggelthorpe in 1796 There is a place similarly named in Lincolnshire for which we have early forms Tragertorp , Stragerthorp (1212, 1242). The latter name is somewhat difficult of explanation and it may be that the Nottinghamshire name has no connection with it. The suggestion may even be hazarded that the name is really a name of the late nickname type. The name would seem to be applied to an area containing some three or four small farms and it may be that it should be interpreted as 'straggling xxxxcccxxxx"x Edna Woodward Cottam née Cave Birth: July 19 1886 Hounslow, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom Charles Cave 1867–1940 Facts Select fact Age 0 — Birth 24 Feb 1867 • Newton On Trent, Lincolnshire, England Age 2 — Birth of brother Samuel Cave(1869–1935) Jun 1869 • Newton On Trent, Lincolnshire, England Age 4 — Residence 3 Apr 1871 • Newark Road, Newton On Trent, Lincolnshire, England Select fact Age 14 — Residence 4 Apr 1881 • The Village, Newton On Trent, Lincolnshire, England Select fact Age 23 — Marriage Jun 1890 • Newark On Trent District, Nottinghamshire, England Elizabeth Brewster (1869–1945) Age 24 — Birth of son George Cave(1891–1955) 29 Mar 1891 • East Drayton, Nottinghamshire, England Age 24 — Residence 5 Apr 1891 • 2 Church Walk, East Drayton, Nottinghamshire, England Age 31 — Death of brother Henry Cave(1860–1898) Dec 1898 • Brentford, Middlesex, England Age 32 — Death of mother Sarah Wade(1827–1899) 12 Nov 1899 • Newton On Trent, Lincolnshire, England Age 34 — Residence 1 Apr 1901 • Front Street, Brant Broughton, Lincolnshire, England Age 34 — Death of sister Anne Elizabeth Cave(1859–1901) Jun 1901 • Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England Select fact Age 44 — Residence 02 Apr 1911 • Brant Broughton, Nottinghamshire, England Age in 1911: 43; Marital Status: Married; Relation to Head: Head Age 47 — Death of father Samuel Cave(1836–1914) 30 Jun 1914 • Newton On Trent, Lincolnshire, England Age 68 — Death of brother Samuel Cave(1869–1935) 9 November 1935 • Lincolnshire, England Age 70 — Death of brother George Cave(1864–1938) 21 Jan 1938 • Rampton, Nottinghamshire, England Age 72 — Residence 1939 • Lincolnshire (Parts of Kesteven), England Marital Status: Married Age 73 — Death 9 Nov 1940 • Lincolnshire, England Family Parents Samuel Cave 1836–1914 Sarah Wade 1827–1899 Spouse and children Elizabeth Brewster 1869–1945 George Cave 1891–1940 To explore more about Charles Cave Deceased Birth name: Charles Cave Birth: 1867 Newton on Trent, Lincolnshire, England no Baptism 24 Mar 1867 Newton-Upon-Trent, Lincolnshire, England Marriage: Spouse: Elizabeth 1890 Residence: 1881 Newton Upon Trent, Lincolnshire, England Residence: 1891 East Drayton, Nottinghamshire, England, United Kingdom Residence: 1911 Newark, Nottinghamshire, England, United Kingdom Parents: Samuel Cave Sarah Cave Wife: Elizabeth Cave Son: George Cave Siblings: Sarah Jane Marrison (born Cave) George Cave Samuel Cave Samuel Cave (father) Age44 Residence NoteThe Village Birth Year (Estimated)1837 BirthplaceHeckdyke, Lincolnshire, England Marital StatusMarried Occupation Shoemaker Relationship to Head of HouseholdHead Event TypeCensus Event Date1881f5gdhv Event PlaceNewton Upon Trent, Lincolnshire, England NameSarah Cave SexFemale Age50 Residence NoteThe Village Birth Year (Estimated)1831 Birthplace Whitton On Humber, Lincolnshire, England Wife Census 1881 Newton Upon Trent, Lincolnshire, England Charles Cave Son is Age14 The Village Birth Year (Estimated)1867 Birthplace: Newton On Trent, Lincolnshire, England Marital StatusSingle OccupationFarm Day Boy Samuel Cave son SexMale Age12 Residence The Village Birth Year (Estimated)1869 BirthplaceNewton On Trent, Lincolnshire, England Marital StatusSingle OccupationScholar Elizabeth wife of Charles Birth Westborough, Lincolnshire Residence at census Sep 29 1939 General Stores, High Street, North Kesteven, Lincolnshire (Parts of Kesteven), England Name BirthMarital statusOccupation Head Charles Cave Feb 24 1867MarriedBoot Repairer Wife (implied) Elizabeth Cave age in census 69 Dec 12 1869MarriedUnpaid Domestic Duties Brief Life History of Charles When Charles Cave was born in 1867, in Newton on Trent, Lincolnshire, England, United Kingdom, his father, Samuel Cave, was 30 and his mother, Sarah, was 36.
